NOSGOTH - Lines of Sorrow

Punkte: 3,5/5

Finally the Styrian Opera/Gothic Metal group has released their long awaited first album.  I’ve been praising them ever since their EP release of “Nevermore Requiem” in 2004.

A few things have changed in the ‘House of Nosgoth’ since then: the introduction of a new lead guitarist, Klaus Lassnig and the announcement of a ‘new voice.’  Instead of Kerstin Jantscher, we hear this time the Californian mezzo-soprano Solmaaz Adeli with Opera San José and experience singing in Vienna under her belt…I must say I am pleased with Solmaaz Adeli’s performance on this album and in general it proves to be a step above the normal “Opera Metal,” breaching into the realms of the ‘refined classical music’ category.  Of all the instruments, I like the keyboard best--it really creates a beautiful setting and contrast to the hard metal sound of the guitars.

If you are interested in the band, you have to visit their elaborate Homepage where they tell us all about their history, have all the song lyrics written out and any other info you would want to know.  You also have the opportunity to hear excerpts from the CD Lines of Sorrow on the website and then order it directly from them.
