NOSGOTH "Lines Of Sorrow" (Opera Metal)
(Eigenproduktion)
First of all, I want to say “WOW!!” Finally, the Austrian band NOSGOTH has done something that really deserves attention, especially at a time when integrating elements of classical music into Metal is far from a new phenomenon. Having said that, I must admit that NOSGOTH has done it in a way I have never heard before! The fact that this band knows what they are doing is shown through their new great American singer Solmaaz Adeli. Before coming to Austria, she had sung with Opera San José in California and then sang with the Wiener Volksoper last spring. The bassist Jörg and the drummer Roman have also had classical training, Jörg beginning with the flute and Roman with the piano at the conservatory where they both played in the Symphonic Band and Percussion ensemble. Gregor the keyboardist, having started the band in 1998 brings his experience of the saxophone and piano to the table. Niko, the rhythm guitarist and son of the International Opera Singer Natela Nicoli took guitar lessons also at the conservatory in Graz along with Klaus, the lead guitar player.
Aside from the vocals, NOSGOTH’s style is reflective of all genres; Power Metal, Gothic, Folk, and all others in the similar category. I must admit, I would sometimes like to hear a male counterpart to Solmaaz’s beautiful female vocals. They bring to scene guitar solos powered by their constant hard core guitar playing, the keyboard which creates a real magical atmosphere, and the exceptional drumming. What more do you want? Lots of Metal lovers admit to being closet classical music fans, so if you are one of those then go to visit NOSGOTH at
